Review: Frito Lay - Loaded Bacon & Cheddar Potato Skins Ruffles Potato Chips

Ruffles Loaded Bacon & Cheddar Potato Skins flavored potato chips promise the flavor of green onions, sour cream, cheese, and bacon in a potato chip.

I picked up a bag at a local supermarket for $2.50 (off of a $4.29 retail).

Like any Ruffles, the chips have that substantial ridged crunch. They look sprinkled with bits of green onion but I can't say that I could really pick out any onion flavor.

I would describe the flavor as similar to Ruffles Sour Cream & Cheddar chips but with a little something extra. It's not exactly a definite bacon flavor but there's a bit of that smokiness that you get with barbecue chips.
The flavor's actually not as heavy or cheesy as the Sour Cream & Cheddar Ruffles; you get more potato flavor and I like it better that way.

Overall, a pretty good chip; it's not going to replace actual potato skins but it takes a little less work to produce. I like the more varied flavor profile over the similar but stronger (and more orange) Sour Cream & Cheddar version.

  1. I thought these tasted a lot like a mix between sour cream and onion and a cheez ums flavor.. Didn't think it tasted anything like potato skins, but it was a good chip none the less
