It can be topped with whipped cream but I tried this one without and with 2% milk. I don't normally order a Venti anything at Starbucks but I bought this one during the recent Happy Hour promo, so it was only half the normal $4.75
Matcha has a distinctive, deep taste that sets it apart from other green teas. I tried it in Japan (on a hilltop in the middle of a forest). It's a type of finely powdered tea and had an intense flavor that I found almost hard to drink.
In the Green Tea Frappuccino, that intensity is softened to mildness by milk and sugar. The end result is a refreshing and cool drink with a flavor similar to green tea ice cream. It's quite nice on a hot summer's day.

The green tea Frappuccinos are my favorite, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who likes them! I gather they are not very popular, given that they are rarely actually listed on the menu.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing to like about them - and I realize this is totally superficial of me - but they're so pretty! I love that shade of green, it's so summery.
This is my faaaaavorite drink at Starbucks! :) The irony that my favorite drink in a coffee house isn't coffee isn't lost on me. :)
ReplyDeleteErika, I too, love green. :)
I also like when people come up to me and ask what the heck I'm drinking. 'Specially if they're cute... :)
Yumz... Reminds me of the Fart flavored frappucino I used to order in NYC.
ReplyDeleteThey don't have it at my local Starbucks :( I want to go back to Taiwan so I can get one :D
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm sure there are closer locations that offer it. I'd rather go back to Taiwan for some dan dan mein or braised pork belly in the steamed rice flour bun.
ReplyDeleteGoing to try it tomorrow! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the green tea frapp but I have peppermint instead of the classic. I also buy a banana and have it added. Makes a vente plus the extra
ReplyDeleteYum
