Frozen Friday: Chili's Chicken Fajita Rice Bowl

Chili's Chicken Fajita Rice Bowl frozen meal features grilled white meat chicken with roasted vegetables and a "bold" Fajita sauce on a bed of white rice and black beans.

I got a 10-oz box for $2 on sale.

The vegetables are poblano peppers, red bell peppers, onions, and corn. Except for the corn, they're on the mushy side of things and don't add much in the way of texture. For something called a "fajita bowl," I'd think there would be more onions and peppers.

The Fajita sauce is just mostly tomatoes with a slight tang of lime and a bite from the peppers (and just the slightest bit of heat) . It does the yeoman's work in terms of flavor.

There's some cheddar cheese on top but it's pretty mild.

The chicken and beans are a bit too firm, but the chicken had a nice, seasoned flavor to it.

Overall, Chili's Chicken Fajita Rice Bowl is pretty good but doesn't do much to distinguish itself, especially in terms of boldness. Still, it's a rather nice bowl of food that doesn't offend.
