Review: Church's Chicken - Chicken Fried Steak

Church's Chicken's Chicken Fried Steak features a tenderized steak that's breaded and deep-fried like fried chicken. It comes with a peppery white gravy in a sizable cup on the side.

A large, thin slab of a steak came with two, sides and a biscuit for $3.99.

The steak was huge and filled up most of the floor of the box (you can see how big it is compared to their biscuit). The breading is relatively thin, but very crispy and a little bit powdery where a few bits of it bunched up (it was a little like mini puff cereal). There's a light seasoned flavor to it.

The steak itself was juicy, flavorful, and tender. It was really easy to cut with a plastic knife.

The steak and breading were salty enough to forgo the gravy, but it does add an extra layer of slightly creamy, peppery flavor. It's pretty watery though. There's a savory note to it but it's not very meaty.

Overall, Church's Chicken's Chicken Fried Steak was excellent and a ridiculously good value for $3.99. The gravy could be better but the steak is pretty good even eaten alone.
