Review: Taco Bell - Rolled Chicken Tacos

Taco Bell's new Rolled Chicken Tacos feature shredded, seasoned white meat chicken rolled up in a corn tortilla and deep-fried.

An order of four costs $3.99 and included two sauces for dipping (sauce choices include new Spicy Ranch, salsa, guacamole, nacho cheese, and sour cream). I went with Spicy Ranch and guacamole. You can also get an order of two with one sauce for $1.99 (which is a penny cheaper than buying four).

The crispy corn tortilla sported a crunchy, slightly flaky shell. The innermost layer was soft with a slight chewiness.

The chicken inside was very lightly seasoned, tender, and moist. It's a bit plain and mostly salty if you eat the Rolled Chicken Taco on its own, but these were made for dipping.

The available sauces are all permanent menu ingredients that they put in a lidded plastic cup when you order. The new Spicy Ranch offers just a bit of heat and a nice herbiness, while the guacamole offers avocado with more than a little tang. I've also tried the other sauces previously during a preview. The guacamole is probably the most traditional condiment but all the sauces go pretty well with Rolled Chicken Tacos. I particularly like the ranch and nacho cheese.

Overall, Taco Bell's Rolled Chicken Tacos were really good, offering a tasty blend of crunchy and soft, plus a good variety of dipping sauces to suit your tastes (unless you want something with a serious kick as the spiciest sauce, the Spicy Ranch, is still fairly mild).
