Review: Popeyes - Buffalo Ranch Tenders

Popeyes Buffalo Ranch Tenders feature the chain's crispy-fried chicken tenders drizzled with new Buffalo Ranch sauce.

For $5, I received three Buffalo Ranch Tenders, a side, and a biscuit.

The new sauce tastes like a spicy and tangy Buffalo sauce tempered with the creaminess of Ranch dressing. It lacked the herb notes of Ranch however. Given that Buffalo Ranch is drizzled onto the chicken tenders rather than tossed with the tenders for an even coat, the result is a more muted but still enjoyable flavor when compared to Buffalo wings.

The breading of the chicken was light and flaky and remained crunchy even as the sauce soaked in.  The tenders from my local Popeyes are generally fairly thin although, on this occasion, one was quite plump. Even the thinner pieces were relatively tender and moist.

When it comes down to it, Popeyes Buffalo Ranch Tenders were good but don't offer much in the way of novelty. The Buffalo and Ranch pairing is common enough. Still, the tenders are ideal, if you want a lighter, less wet Buffalo flavor. Basically, if you like Buffalo wings but wish that they were less intense, these might do it for you.
