Review: Taco Bell - Pineapple Whip Freeze

Taco Bell's Pineapple Whip Freeze features a pineapple-flavored ice slush drink mixed with vanilla-flavored creamer.

It cost me $2.89 for a 16-oz regular size cup.

I think they're going for something like a Dole Whip in flavor here, which is basically like pineapple soft serve. While they both have a pineapple base flavor, the Pineapple Whip Freeze lacks the tart, tangy notes of the fruit and tastes more like pineapple soda. With the addition of the vanilla creamer, it feels like the ice slush version of flat pineapple soda mixed with cream soda.

In texture, the ice slush was pretty fine but similar to something you might grind out at home if you happened to have a manual snow cone machine. It's not gritty but it's not like the fluffy, airy stuff you get from a 7-Eleven Slurpee (when the Slurpee machine is working properly).

I'm not a huge fan of cream soda (plus I like the tart notes in fruit flavors) so the Pineapple Whip Freeze was just okay for me. I don't mind drinking it as a sweet ice slush is especially nice on a hot day but I'd probably get it without the creamer.
