News: Ben & Jerry's - 2013 New Flavors

Ben & Jerry's has unveiled their new flavors for 2013. In addition to the Liz Lemon flavor that I wrote about earlier, the rest of the line up includes Chocolate Peppermint Crunch, Pineapple Passionfruit, Vanilla Honey Caramel, Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz, and Candy Bar Pie.

Chocolate Peppermint Crunch is chocolate ice cream with peppermint and fudge swirls and mint chocolate cookies.

Regarding the Liz Lemon flavor: through May 31, Ben & Jerry's scoop shops offer the Liz Lemon Schmake (smoothie plus shake = "schmake"), which consists of Liz Lemon Greek frozen yogurt, blended with Berry Berry and sorbet. A Liz Lemon Waffle Bowl Sundae is also available. It features a freshly baked waffle bowl, Liz Lemon Greek Frozen Yogurt, Berry Berry sauce, and whipped cream.

Pineapple Passionfruit and Vanilla Honey Caramel are both new Greek frozen yogurts. Pineapple Passionfruit features pineapple Greek frozen yogurt with pineapple pieces and a passionfruit swirl, while Vanilla Honey Caramel is vanilla Greek frozen yogurt with a honey caramel swirl.

Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz is usually only available in scoop shops, but has been re-introduced in retail store pints. The flavor features Coffee ice cream with espresso bean fudge chunks.

Candy Bar Pie is a scoop shop-only flavor and consists of peanut butter ice cream with fudge flakes, chocolate nougat, and sweet & salty pretzel swirls. Candy Bar Pie will also be offered later this year as a Limited-Batch flavor in stores.

Other Limited-Batch flavors this year include Cannoli, which ends its run this month, and Pina Colada, which will make its appearance starting May. Cannoli consists of mascapone ice cream with fudge covered cannoli pastry shell chunks and a mascapone swirl. Pina Colada is coconut ice cream with pineapple chunks.

For those of you who miss White Russian, be on the look out as it's coming back this summer!

There's also a slight change to Chubby Hubby this year: the peanut butter has been incorporated into the fudge coating rather than inside the pretzel. They had to replace the pretzel with a new one to achieve fair-trade certification on the flavor.

Ben & Jerry's offers a "flavor locator" on their website so you can see what your local supermarkets are stocking.

  3. Just found out the hard way about Chubby Hubby. I'm not keen on the change. I miss actual peanut butter in the pretzels.

  4. I totally agree... Just not the same. Pretzels just don't work anymore. Oh well

  5. So I'm not the only one. It's not a "slight change" and (disappointingly) it just isn't the same. Not happy!

  6. I tried the Cotton Candy flavor that I found at Walmart. It wasn't very exciting. But, if you are looking for something vanilla
with a slight sweet crunch this is it.

  7. So incredibly disappointed with the "slight change" to Chubby Hubby. It's not slight in the least. The chocolate-covered, peanut butter-filled pretzels were what made Chubby Hubby so exceptional. It's definitely not the same. Looks like I will have to find a new favorite ice cream...

  8. I do not like the "slight change" in the Chubby Hubby. I found out the hard way and then googled it, finding this article!! It completely changes the flavor and the new pretzels have an odd crisp that you do not expect in an ice cream (which is not enjoyable at all)!!! I am with a few others; looks like I will be finding a new favorite flavor!!!
