News: Baskin-Robbins - May 2014 Flavor of the Month

Baskin-Robbins' Flavor of the Month for May presents a twist to cookie dough ice cream and is called Mom's Makin' Cookies ice cream.

The new flavor features brown sugar-flavored ice cream filled with chocolate chip cookie pieces, chocolate-flavored chips, and a cookie dough batter ribbon.

But that's not all: to accompany the ice cream they've come up with a recipe for cookie dough ice cream sandwiches. That's right it's cookie dough-ish ice cream sandwiched by two "slices" of cookie dough.

Here's the recipe:

Ingredients

- 1 quart of Mom's Makin' Cookies ice cream, softened
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 6 tbs. light brown sugar
- 4 tbs. granulated sugar
- 2 tbs. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips

Directions

1. In a large bowl, cream the butter until light in color and light and fluffy. Then add brown sugar and granulated sugar and cream again.

2. Stir in milk, vanilla, and salt until well blended.

3. Stir in flour until mixture is smooth. Then stir in chocolate chips

4. Line a sheet pan with cellophane to prevent sticking.

5. Spread half the dough onto the sheet pan, using your hands to make an even layer.

6. Spread Mom's Makin' Cookies ice cream in an even layer over the layer of dough.

7. Spread the rest of the dough in an even layer over the layer of Mom's Makin' Cookies ice cream.

8. Cover sheet pan with tin foil and freeze for at least 2 to 3 hours to firm up dessert.

9. Slice the dessert into small squares and serve.

Also new this month is the limited-time Piece Cake. Ideal for differing tastes, the Piece Cake is made up of four different quartered slices. Each cake includes a slice of: OREO Cookies ‘n Cream with Chocolate Cake, Mint Chocolate Chip with Chocolate Cake, Pralines ‘n Cream with Yellow Cake, and Very Berry Strawberry with Yellow Cake.
