Review: Nabisco - Oreo Creme Filled Chewy Chips Ahoy Cookies

Oreo Creme Filled Chewy Chips Ahoy Cookies feature a Oreo vanilla creme-filled core inside of a soft-baked chocolate chip cookie.

It cost me $2.79 for a 9.6-oz package.

Nabisco actually used to offer something similar to these about 10 or so years ago called Chips Ahoy Cremewiches, but they ended up discontinued. Maybe it was because they weren't Oreo-branded because those Cremewiches sound pretty awesome.

Regardless, ever since Nabisco started baking fillings into their Chewy Chips Ahoy, they've been on a tear from stuffing in brownies to fudge to who-knows-what-they'll-come-up-with-next.

There are some cons to baking Oreo creme inside of a cookie though; the texture is a bit grainier (possibly due to being baked) and you're not going to get the same even coverage you get in an Oreo or oatmeal creme pie.

Other than than that, the taste is pretty good and the creme mostly feels like vanilla Oreo creme. It adds a sweet creaminess that pairs well with the chocolate chip cookie. The crispier regular Chips Ahoy would provide a bit more contrast and variety though. The soft-baked version offers a similarly soft texture as the creme and a good amount of semisweet chocolate chips.

Overall, Oreo Creme Filled Chewy Chips Ahoy Cookies make for a pretty sweet combo of creme filling and chocolate chip cookies. It can get a little too sweet at times but is still quite good. I think I'd prefer it as an actual cookie sandwich though.
