News: Taco Bell - Free Tacos for Stolen Bases During the World Series

It's not unusual for free food items to be given at sporting event to the audience if certain benchmarks are hit, like if one team scores 100 points or if the home team wins. But Taco Bell is taking it a step further this year and spreading the love by offering the opportunity for a free Doritos Locos Tacos to everyone in the U.S. if any player steals a base during the Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series. They're calling it "Steal a Base, Steal a Taco."

Here are the details:

"If the first stolen base occurs during Games One through Four, America will get free Doritos® Locos Tacos on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time at all participating Taco Bell locations. If the first stolen base occurs during Games Five through Seven, America can redeem their free tacos on Monday, November 5 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time at all participating Taco Bell locations. Fans are invited to visit www.mlb.com/stealataco for more information on how to receive a free taco. Limit one (1) Free Taco per person."

Update 10/26/12 - You'll be happy to know that a base was stolen and you can pick up your free Doritos Locos Taco on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 between 2pm and 6pm at any participating Taco Bell restaurant.

At the very least, even people who don't bother watching the World Series might be interested in the results this year. The World Series starts this Wednesday, October 24, 2012.

There's a TV spot to push the promotion as well:

  3. I typically hate baseball, but I will learn to love it (at least temporarily) if I can get a free taco from it.
