Review: Arby's - Jalapeno Hushpuppies

Arby's Jalapeno Hushpuppies are basically small, deep-fried balls of cornbread with sweet corn and diced jalapenos in them.

It cost me $1.79 at my local Arby's for an order of five Hushpuppies.

These are very reminiscent of corn dog batter. They fry to the same thick, crispy shell.

Inside, they're dense and moist with a light sweetness but overall savory flavor. It's like cornbread but with a finer crumb and less sugar. The occasional corn kernel provides an extra burst of sweetness, while the bits of jalapeno deliver a low, simmering heat.

Overall, Arby's Jalapeno Hushpuppies are pretty good. They have an overall mild flavor that's an excellent combination of savory, sweet, and spicy as well as a nice contrast of crunchy and soft in a bite-sized package. I think they'd go really well with Arby's Bronco Berry sauce but I forgot to ask for some.
