Review: Chick-fil-A - Grilled Nuggets

Chick-fil-A’s new Grilled Nuggets feature boneless chicken breast meat marinated with a special blend of seasonings and then grilled.

I purchased an 8 count for $3.79.

A healthier option than Chick-fil-A’s standard nuggets, the new grilled nuggets contain about half the calories of the classic fried ones. They are, however, still very juicy and flavorful. The grilled chicken does not have the distinct taste commonly associated with Chick-fil-A’s food, but the difference is welcome. It’s easy to dry out grilled chicken but I was pleased to find that the nuggets were moist even though I don’t believe mine were fresh.

There isn’t a lot of grilled flavor to be found here. The nuggets do feature grill lines but I didn’t taste any discernible char and the lines didn't add any crispness to the nuggets.

I tried my nuggets with barbecue dipping sauce and really enjoyed the combination. The result is basically just barbecued chicken but it’s nice knowing I can have that sensation for just a trip down the street and the 5 bucks in my pocket.

Overall, I enjoyed Chick-fil-A’s Grilled Nuggets, even if I wasn’t blown away by them. They’re a nice change of pace from the chain’s normal chicken so you may want to try them out if you frequent the establishment. I wish the fact that they were grilled lent a little more authentic grilled flavor but dipping them in a sauce quickly covers up the shortcomings of the chicken.
