Review: Corner Bakery Cafe - Pesto Cavatappi

Corner Bakery Cafe's Pesto Cavatappi features strips of grilled chicken and cavatappi pasta tossed in a pesto cream sauce and sprinkled with toasted bread crumbs. Crunchy garlic bread comes on the side.

An entree-size order was $8.99.

The entree-size bowl is pretty big and enough for two to share unless you have a big appetite.

It's a pretty simple dish with very basic components. The creamy sauce has the requisite garlic-basil combo and it hits the right note; not too heavy or light.

The cavatappi pasta is tender but firm enough to not fall apart. The combination of ridges, a corkscrew shape, and hollow interior does a really good job of holding the sauce.

The chicken is juicy and very tender. There's not an abundance of it but there's enough.

The breadcrumbs added an very nice crunch that contrasted nicely with the tender chicken and pasta.

The crunchy garlic bread is thin and well-toasted on every side. If you like more of the soft crumb, there's not much here. Instead, there's an airy, satisfying crunch and buttery garlic flavor.

Overall, Corner Bakery's Pesto Cavatappi is really good. It's tasty and the breadcrumbs and toast add just the right textural contrast.
