News: Wendy's Tests BBQ Brisket... on a Cornbread Bun!

Apparently, Pulled Pork isn't the only barbecue meat Wendy's is looking into, they're testing a Beef Brisket Cheeseburger out in Jacksonville, Florida.

The new burger was brought to my attention by one of my readers who provided the photos shown here. Following Wendy's recent success with different types of buns, they're trying a cornbread bun for the new sandwich.

Inside the bun, you'll find a quarter-pound beef patty, cheddar cheese, sliced beef brisket, crispy fried onion straws, and a sweet and tangy barbecue sauce.

The price tag on Wendys' Beef Brisket Cheeseburger is $5.99 for the sandwich or $2 extra to tack on fries and a drink.

While beef brisket isn't entirely new among Wendy's competitors, so far among the major chains, only Arby's has offered the slow-cooked meat (which according to the chain, they cook for at least 13 hours; and just in case you don't believe them, they made a 13-hour long commercial of their brisket cooking to prove it and to gain a Guinness World Record for the longest commercial).

The cornbread bun interests me more as it hasn't yet been done by any of the major fast food burger chains. Plus, cornbread and barbecue go great together.
