News: Wendy's Testing New Premium Salads

Wendy's is currently testing a line of four Premium Salads at participating locations in the following markets: Columbus, OH; Nashville, TN; Salt Lake City, UT; Richmond, VA.  The four salads are: the Apple Pecan Chicken Salad, the BLT Cobb, the Baja Salad, and the Spicy Chicken Caesar.
Wendy's Premium Salads Test

The Apple Pecan Chicken Salad features tender grilled chicken and real blue cheese crumbles mixed with fresh, hand-picked apples and sweet, dried cranberries.  It also appears to have walnuts or pecans.

The BLT Cobb contains whole slices of Applewood Smoked Bacon with blue cheese, grilled chicken, and diced eggs and tomatoes served with avocado ranch dressing.  The BLT Cobb has nine varieties of lettuce.

The Baja Salad appears to be a re-do of the current Southwest Taco Salad and contains pico de gallo prepared fresh in store everyday and guacamole made from fresh Hass avocados as well as chili, seasoned chips, and two types of shredded cheese (probably Jack and Cheddar).

The Spicy Chicken Caesar is just a slightly different rendition of their Chicken Caesar Salad except with slices of spicy chicken fillet instead of grilled chicken, and small slices of Parmesan cheese instead of shredded.  Beyond that it seems to be the same romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes, and croutons.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the salads come in two sizes: a larger entrĂ©e size for $5.99 and a smaller midsize for $3.99. The midsize salads also are offered as part of a "Pick 2" meal for $4.99, where you can choose the salad and your choice of a small chili, a small drink, a chicken wrap, a sour cream and chive baked potato or a Junior Bacon Cheeseburger.

All Wendy's salads feature Marzetti all-natural, preservative-free salad dressing.
