Taco Bell Bean Burritos have been on the menu for as long as I can remember. Back in undergrad, a couple of my friends used to love them (actually, I still think they love them)... especially before a road trip. Cue "Beans, beans, the magical fruit..."
A Taco Bell Bean Burrito consists of a plain flour tortilla filled with gooey refried beans, diced onions, red sauce, and shredded Cheddar cheese for 99 cents.
How does it taste? It's not too salty, but too salty for beans. There's a fair amount of bean flavor. I've never tasted any diced onions. The red sauce is barely there but you can always add as much as you want. A bit more cheese would help add more variety.
For 99 cents at Taco Bell, there are a lot better tasting (and better value) options on their "Why Pay More?" Value Menu such as the Grilled Chicken Burrito (99 cents) or the Beefy 5-Layer Burrito (89 cents). I'm pretty sure Bean Burritos used to be 89 cents each. For classic Taco Bell taste, I'd rather just have a Crunchy Taco for 89 cents.

I love these things but they are a calorie bomb! I always get it Fresco style, yet it is still over 300 calories! Still it is one of Taco Bell's better items and somehow I manage to ignore the calorie ramifications and get one ever time I go. Come to think of it, I'm getting hungry for one now...
ReplyDeleteI get 2 crunchy tacos and an order of pintos minus the cheese for under 600 calories. Easy, cheap, tasty lunch!
ReplyDeleteMan, I love these things! I def taste the onions and the sauce, they put plenty of them in there at the TB by me. Could use more cheese though.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note: they took the chicken burrito off the value menu here in NJ! It must've happened within the last week or so :(
@Bob: Maybe they will add something new in its place!
ReplyDeleteWhen I get them, which is rare because of the calories, I order the "Bean Burrito plus Sour Cream" The sour cream adds a lot and makes it one of the best tasting items on the menu.
ReplyDeleteSuper Weak review. This bean burrito is great....with fire sauce.
ReplyDeleteThis stuff hits the spot..i agree with the other guy...add some fire sauce and you're good to go!
ReplyDeleteI get the bean burritos all the time from taco bell but I get them with extra cheese and extra red sauce there so amazing that way!
