It's quite a claim to call your breakfast product "perfect" but there you go: Starbucks' Perfect Oatmeal. Perfect Oatmeal features hot oatmeal with your choice of brown sugar, dried fruits, and nuts for $2.49 at my local Starbucks. I wasn't actually offered a choice the guy behind the counter just handed me a bag with a lidded cup of hot oatmeal and a bag of each topping.
The nut medley is a blend of almonds, walnuts, and pecans while the dried fruits are a mix of cranberries, raisins, blueberries, and cherries. The bags are clearly labeled with the calorie count for each topping and you can mix it yourself so you can add as much or as little as you want. I just ripped open all three bags and piled it on. Fruit and nuts are good for you, right?
How was Starbucks Perfect Oatmeal? I'm pretty sure it's instant and not nearly perfect despite the lofty claim. It tastes much like the Quaker instant oatmeal I sometimes eat at home. And I like Quaker instant oatmeal, it's just I can make it easily at home. You see the problem.
The toppings were a nice touch though. The nuts were nice and crunchy and the fruits were chewy and flavorful. I wouldn't mind snacking on either straight out of the bag. Everything went well together and I enjoyed it. I wouldn't call it perfect though and don't like paying $2.49 for someone to pour some hot water and hand me a bunch of snack-sized topping bags.

The oatmeal looks really watery, unless you like thinner oatmeal?
ReplyDeleteThey have the same thing at jamba juice now.
ReplyDeleteHm, looks pretty tasty. Love me some walnuts.
ReplyDeleteThey had a promotion last year for a few months where you could get a Perfect Oatmeal and Tall Latte for $2.50. Needless to say, I utilized it every single Sunday morning :D
ReplyDelete@Sarah: Yes, Jamba was running a promo where it was $1 for a bit. I believe they are also testing oatmeal at McDonald's.
ReplyDelete@Rate.Bake.Create: The walnuts were pretty good!
@Christopher: Why only Sunday?
