Review: Burger King - BK Breakfast Muffin

BK Breakfast Muffin from the top
While the name might bring to mind a small cake, Burger King's BK Breakfast Muffin is actually an English muffin sandwich with sausage, egg, and cheese and a blatant copy of McDonald's Sausage McMuffin with Egg. It's a recent addition to BK's Breakfast menu along with the BK Breakfast Bowl and retails for a tidy $1.

How was it?  On the plus side, BK's sausage was actually the same size or bigger than the English muffin and had a nice, seasoned flavor without being too salty.  The cheese was your typical fast food American but wasn't muted by the meat as sometimes happens with other sandwiches and burgers.

On the negative end of things, the egg was minuscule in size, as you can see above, and its flavor was pretty much non-existent in the sandwich.  It didn't feel very eggy either.  Also, there was the English muffin...

Curiously enough, the English muffin wasn't toasted.  What's up with that?!  They have a bun toaster; just throw it in!  Since it was just a warmed English muffin, it was chewy and lacked a good texture.

At the beginning of the day, I would rather get a BK Breakfast Bowl than 2 and 2/3s BK Breakfast Muffins.  Still, it's a good value for $1 and I'm sure it'll have its share of fans.

  1. Between this and McDonald's, which do you prefer?

  2. I would go with McDonald's because the lack of egg and chewy English muffin on the BK version really killed it for me.

  3. Yeah, the muffin could really use a long toasting.

  4. not bad for $1 but i really didn't like the muffin. it just don't taste good to me. i would like it if they had this on a biscuit for the same price now. again i add ketchup to these because i just think they need it. though i also have done the jelly a few times and that isn't bad too
