Review: Jack in the Box - Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit

Currently, at a promo price of two for $3, Jack in the Box's Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit features a buttermilk biscuit with a fried egg, a slice of American cheese, and a sausage patty.

My favorite thing about breakfast at Jack in the Box is the fact that it is served all day. Given that many Jack in the Box's have 24 hours drive-thrus, this means breakfast is available at any hour, day or night. My least favorite thing about Jack in the Box's Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit is the biscuit itself. Maybe I've been spoiled by the KFC's awesome biscuit but Jack in the Box's biscuit was a bit dry and kind of chewy whereas I was looking for buttery and fluffy.

As for the rest, the egg is fried in an egg ring like McDonald's does for their McMuffins but Jack in the Box differs in that they sear the egg surface a bit giving it a bit of crispy crust. The cheese was your standard plain American. The sausage was a bit wanting as well. I would have like a bit more seasoning. A bit more pepper and garlic powder perhaps.

But really, it was the biscuit that ruined this... uh... biscuit sandwich for me.

  1. Is that runny yolk or cheese? I have to admit, it looks good.

  3. @wibia: That is definitely cheese. I don't know of any fast food place that will give you runny eggs I think for fear of undercooking it.

    @Rob: They are the best!
