Review: Taco Bell - Chipotle Ranch Chicken Loaded Griller

Taco Bell's Chipotle Ranch Chicken Loaded Griller is one of the new items that they've been testing at a local Taco Bell as a possible replacement for the Spicy Buffalo Chicken Griller. It's basically the same thing (grilled chicken, sour cream in a grilled flour tortilla) but with their chipotle ranch sauce rather than their lava sauce.

To get people to try it, they were offering it for 79 cents a pop (compared to the more typical $1.29).

-Update 1/23/14: these made it through test and are currently available for a limited-time at $1 each.

There aren't any surprises here. If you've tried the Buffalo Chicken Griller, the Chipotle Chicken Loaded Griller is its less spicy, more vanilla brother.

The chicken and the grilled flour tortilla are nice enough, but the sour cream and chipotle sauce combo is a bit plain, especially since the chipotle sauce is a mayo-sour cream combo with a touch of heat and smokiness. I like the flavor well enough but it's not terribly interesting.

Overall, Taco Bell's Chipotle Ranch Chicken Loaded Griller test is basically a chicken Griller for those who prefer a more subtle smoky flavor and just a little spice over the much tangier and stout heat of the Buffalo version.

If you're looking to try it yourself, you can just custom order it at the nearest Taco Bell by asking for "a Buffalo Chicken Griller but with chipotle sauce instead of lava."
