Review: The Coffee Bean - Chocolate Hazelnut Ice Blended

The Coffee Bean's Chocolate Hazelnut Ice Blended features coffee extract, hazelnut powder, chocolate powder, and milk blended with ice before poured into a cup with a chocolate syrup swirl and topped with whipped cream and more syrup.

A 16-ounce "regular" was $3.95.

For whatever reason, when something is referred to as "chocolate hazelnut," I tend to think that it will be chocolaty with a bit of hazelnut flavor but this was the opposite of that, which could be good or bad depending on your preferences and expectations.

There wasn't too much in the way of a coffee flavor, but there was a strong, nutty hazelnut taste with just a bit of cocoa-y chocolate to it. It was pretty sweet and nice and icy, which may or may not fly elsewhere, but fits in perfectly with the fairly warm Southern California fall.

Overall, Coffee Bean's Chocolate Hazelnut Ice Blended is pretty good if you like a lot of hazelnut flavor in an icy dessert-drink but not so much if you prefer more chocolate. I think it'd go really well mixed with their dark chocolate powder.

  2. I know they're ridiculously overpriced, but the novelty alone still makes me want to give them a try.

  4. These taste surprisingly good, but I don't think I would ever eat them again. Too rich and indulgent. It is not pleasant to remember.
