Review: Kellogg's - Chocolate Peanut Butter Pop-Tarts

Kellogg's Chocolate Peanut Butter Pop-Tarts feature a chocolate-flavored pastry crust spread with a chocolate-flavored frosting and filled with a peanut butter filling.

A 10.5-ounce box of six Pop-Tarts was on sale for $2.

Chocolate and peanut butter is a favorite combination for me so I was pretty interested in trying these.

Like most (if not all) Pop-Tarts, these come off pretty sweet and was like eating dessert for breakfast. Most of the sugar seems to come from the frosting which is really sweet but actually has some real chocolate thrown in.

The peanut butter filling melted really nicely from toasting. You might want to be careful not to heat it for too long as the peanut butter might make a molten run for it and make for some potentially difficult toaster cleaning. The filling was very peanut-buttery with a smooth and creamy texture. It goes well with the chocolate notes of the pastry crust and frosting.

The crust was pretty hard, even without toasting, and delivered a light cocoa flavor.

Overall, Kellogg's Chocolate Peanut Butter Pop-Tarts delivers a satisfying combination of chocolate and peanut butter for breakfast (or quick snacking) but like all Pop-Tarts might be a little too much sugar in the morning for some.

  1. I love these! When toasted right I always enjoy them. Although I never have a problem with my toaster creating little craters on top of the pastry like seen in these pix. It's almost like eating a Reese's pastry for breakfast.

  4. These have been my new favorite flavor of Pop-Tarts ever since they came out. Peanut butter and chocolate has always been a favorite flavor combination of mine so it doesn't surprise me how awesome they are.

  5. For reasons I'll never understand, peanut butter and chocolate peanut butter Pop Tarts are 98 cents for a six pack (three packages) at my local Walmart. The other flavors in that size are double that, if not more. No other store has these anywhere near that cheap. Very odd, but I do not complain. I always grab two boxes when I stop by.

  6. Hm... maybe they overstocked on it? That's super cheap though!
