KFC Testing Georgia Gold Fried Chicken

KFC looks to follow up their Nashville Hot Chicken with another regionally-inspired dish: new KFC Georgia Gold chicken.

The new flavor recently began testing in Mobile, Alabama as well as Pittsburgh, PA and offers the sweet and tangy taste of honey mustard barbecue to a number of KFC menu items including Extra Crispy fried chicken, Extra Crispy Chicken Tenders, and Chicken Littles mini sandwiches.

The chain purposely chose both a northern and southern market to get a good idea of how different regional preferences would enjoy the new dish.

According to Kevin Hochman, KFC US chief marketing officer, "The crispy and tangy flavor profile of Georgia Gold is like a grown-up honey mustard – sweet with attitude." It draws influence from Georgia and South Carolina cuisine.

Like Nashville Hot Chicken, which is back in Pittsburgh for a limited time (perhaps so customers can compare the two?), Georgia Gold also comes served with pickle slices on top.

The test dish is available in both areas through September 4, 2016.
