Starbucks Debuts New Artisan Pop-Tart-Like Megpies

Starbucks' newest baked dessert is basically a fancier version of a Pop-Tart called "Megpies artisan tarts" that originate from New York City.

The all-natural tarts features a buttery, flaky crust, jam filling, and sweet frosting and were originally sold a while back from owner Meghan Ritchie's front stoop in Brooklyn.

The pies eventually expanded their reach to various local shops and cafes and in 2014, Starbucks approached Ritchie about selling the tarts in select New York City locations. The popularity of the tarts lead Starbucks to expand distribution to 30 locations and now to all company-operated stores (which amounts to about 7,500 locations) in the US starting today.

Megpies can be found at participating Starbucks locations in two flavors: Strawberry and Cinnamon + Brown Sugar. They cost $3.95 a piece (may vary).
