Review: Taco Bell - Churro

Taco Bell's Churro is a warm twisty, ridged stick of fried dough, dusted in cinnamon and sugar.

Part of Taco Bell's new Dessert Menu, they go for 99 cents a pop.
This reminded me a lot of Baja Fresh's Churro (something I've missed since my local Baja Fresh closed). It has a similar shape, but is a little thinner and a bit longer.

Taco Bell's Churro wasn't warm so much as lukewarm, but had a nice, thin crispy shell.

The insides were satisfyingly moist and almost gooey. There's a very nice contrast between the crust and crumb.

My only real nitpick is that my particular churro had an almost mouth-drying amount of cinnamon. It was just slightly too dusty, but not enough to have me reaching for water.

Other than just a little too much cinnamon, Taco Bell's Churro was real good and my favorite item on the new dessert menu. Between Taco Bell and Baja Fresh's version, I still give a slight nod to Baja Fresh for the freshly fried experience.

  3. I like this one better, it has a really moist crumb inside. Costco is a better value though.

  4. The first churro I ever had was a Disneyland so I like the cinnamon. There are a number of places to get freshly fried traditional ones here in Los Angeles though.

  5. Do you have to buy cases of 50, though?

  6. I decided to try this out... it was nasty. It looked good, but the topping had an after taste.

  8. Gross... never order it again. It was stone cold and the lady tried to get away with it.
