Review: Arby's - Chocolate Molten Lava Cake

Arby's new, limited-time Chocolate Molten Lava Cake features warm chocolate cake filled with warm liquid chocolate and topped with cocoa crumbles.

It's priced at $1.99, but I received this one courtesy of Arby's.

The one I got wasn't warm so much as it was piping hot. There was steam rising from the cake and I almost burnt my tongue.

The cocoa crumble along with a drizzle of hot chocolate syrup didn't make for the best looking of cakes; it kind of looked like someone had mashed up a cake and put it in a plastic bowl. The crumbles add an unexpected crunch as well as a nice bit of texture. There's also a little bit of cocoa powder on top.

Inside, the cake was moist, warm, and chocolaty. The liquid chocolate in the center adds even more delicious chocolate flavor to the mix. It doesn't get too sweet or dark in flavor, which may be good or bad depending on your preferences. I thought it hit the right notes.

Overall, Arby's Chocolate Molten Lava Cake makes for some pretty tasty dessert eating, especially for the chocolate lovers. Hot/warm chocolate cake with a fudgy sauce and crunchy crumbles? What's not to like? If you're not a heavy dessert eater, there's probably enough to share.
