Review: Del Taco - Salsa Verde Nachos

Del Taco's Salsa Verde Nachos feature tortilla chips topped with slow-cooked beans, warm nacho cheese, tangy salsa verde (AKA "green sauce"), and sliced pickled jalapenos.

It cost me $1 for an order.

I liked the earthiness and smooth texture of the beans and the warm, creamy nacho cheese, but the salsa verde was a bit lacking. There wasn't much of it to go around, so the expected tanginess was mostly missing. I might have been better off just squirting some taco sauce on there.

The jalapenos were probably the most plentiful topping with a peppery sour bite to them as well as a decent amount of heat.

The chips were crunchy and hold up well against the toppings. They're made in-house but feel a little like some store-bought brands.

Overall, Del Taco's Salsa Verde Nachos is a nice enough concept at the $1 price point but I was a little underwhelmed by the salsa verde portion. Still, nacho cheese, jalapenos, and beans are pretty nice for a buck.
