Review: Trader Joe's - Cookie Butter Sandwich Cookies

Trader Joe's Cookie Butter Sandwich Cookies feature creamy cookie butter spread sandwiched between two round butter cookies.

They go for $3.99 for a 10-oz box, which contains 18 cookies.

Rather than a cookie butter creme filling, these come with actual creamy cookie butter, which is basically Speculoos cookies ground finely into a smooth peanut butter-like spread. If you've never had a Speculoos cookie or cookie butter, they have a spiced caramel flavor to them that's really nice.

The consistency is more like natural peanut butter rather than your typical Oreo-type creme filling, which is to say it's a bit more fluid and more prone to escape the cookie sandwich (i.e. be careful you don't get cookie butter on yourself while eating these). You can see in the picture above, that it also results in some rather uneven sandwiches.

The cookies are rich and buttery. They're like shortbread with a light and crumbly texture.

Overall, Trader Joe's Cookie Butter Sandwich Cookies are really good. The rich butteriness of the cookies go really well with the more subtle spiced caramelized notes of the cookie butter. Of course, if you prefer other cookies over butter cookies, you can always just buy a jar of cookie butter and just dip your cookie of choice in it.
