Review: Sonic - Lil' Chickies

Sonic's Lil' Chickies feature mini white-meat crispy chicken patties in a mini 4" hot dog bun. They come in three varieties: Classic, BBQ, and Buffalo.

I got one of each courtesy of Sonic. They're normally $1.49 a piece.

The chicken patties are actually just Sonic's regular chicken strips. They have a thick crunchy batter to them but were a little dry inside (if I were to guess, they'd probably been sitting in the warmer for a bit as they tend to be juicy fresh out of the fryer).

Classic Lil' Chickie
Despite varying sizes for the chicken strips, the bun-to-chicken ratio remained fairly balanced.

The Classic version comes with two pickles and mayo, the BBQ version comes with two pickles and BBQ sauce, and the Buffalo version comes with just Buffalo sauce.

BBQ Lil' Chickie
The respective sauces are applied fairly moderately on the bun rather than doused on to the chicken strips.

The Classic reminds me of KFC's Chicken Little (the new one, not the original); you get the same creamy mayo and sour bite of pickles.

Buffalo Lil' Chickie
The BBQ reminds me a little of a McRib, but not as saucy, and with fried chicken instead of pork. It does miss out on the onions though.

The Buffalo works well with the chicken and offers a moderate amount of heat and that familiar, vinegary tang.

Overall, Sonic's Lil' Chickies were all pretty good. There's a nice balance between bun and chicken strips and the traditional sauces provide a nice amount of variety that you can mix and match. You can also just go for one if you prefer something light.
