El Pollo Loco's carnitas is described by the chain as "tender and crispy" pork that's been simmered for hours and finished over high heat.
The Carnitas menu includes:
- Carnitas Tacos - Pork carnitas, avocado salsa, cabbage, cilantro, onion, and fresh avocado, served in a folded corn-and-flour blend tortilla. You get two taco to an order.
- Carnitas Stuffed Quesadilla - A grilled, hexagonally-folded flour tortilla filled with pork carnitas, fresh avocado, melted cheese, pico de gallo, and avocado salsa.
- Carnitas Wet Burrito - Pork carnitas, pico de gallo, pinto beans, and sour cream, wrapped up in a flour tortilla and then topped with green enchilada sauce, cheese, and cilantro.
The online-only items are available when ordering through the El Pollo Loco website or mobile app and include:
- Pork Carnitas Nachos - Tortilla chips topped with queso blanco, pork carnitas, pinto beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream.
- Pork Carnitas Tostadas - A tostada shell filled with shredded lettuce, rice, pinto beans, pork carnitas, jack cheese, pico de gallo, and sour cream.
While best known for flame-grilled chicken, El Pollo Loco occasionally offers other protein options such as shredded beef, birria, and more.
Also here for the holiday season is the Festive Family Meal, which includes eight pieces of flame-grilled chicken, three large sides, and tortillas for a price starting at $24.
