Review: Frito Lay - Doritos Jumpin' Jack Tortilla Chips

Frito Lay's Doritos Jumpin' Jack tortilla chips are a "throwback" flavor they're re-releasing for a limited time. They're basically pepper jack-flavored tortilla chips.

The retail price on a 11-ounce bag is $4.29.

I never tried these as a kid, so they're new to me. I do remember eating Monterey Jack Doritos chips though and always thought they tasted like a cheesier Doritos Cool Ranch. I suspected the flavor would be similar here.

I have to say I like these. They're a bit on the salty side of the Doritos spectrum and they do taste a little bit similar to Doritos Ranch chips in the seasoning department, but where Doritos Ranch have a mellow creaminess, these have a sharper cheesy flavor.

If you're adverse to spiciness, be warned that these do bring a low burn with them after a couple of chips.

I don't know how Doritos Jumpin' Jack tortilla chips compare to the original version, but these were pretty good!

Thanks, but the whole 'chip market' has gotten COMPLETELY out of hand, price-wise.

Convenience notwithstanding, $4.29 will buy POUNDS of potatoes, and a good crisping in the oven with just a spritz of nice butter-flavored cooking spray and then? You can oversalt them and douse them with every herb, spice, cheese and gravy product ever made!

    Long live Poutine!
