I bought one up for $1.
The patty comes with a tangy, sweet barbecue sauce with a spicy kick. It's about a s thin as a McDonald's hamburger patty and none too juicy as a result. On the plus side, the patty is big enough to cover the whole bun. There was a really good amount of charring on the patty's crust for a bit of burnt flavor that drove that barbecue feel home.
The pickles were a bit overwhelming for such a small sandwich. They're thick cut and the same you'd find in Burger King's bigger burgers.
The fresh onions were crisp with a nice bit. They're a fairly traditional accompaniment for barbecue for a reason and work well here.
Overall, Burger King's new BBQ Rib Sandwich provides a nice barbecue experience in a simple and very affordable package. In terms of bbq pork sandwiches, it doesn't get any cheaper than this.

I like how Brand Eating is advertising a McDonald's McRib right on the picture of the Burger King Rib sandwich. Brand Eating should charge McDonald's double the rate for that ad.
ReplyDelete"The Rib Sandwich is coming back on Tuesday, guess who ain't getting one?!" --Chappelle's Show
ReplyDeleteIf it still lists cheese substitute with partially hydrogenated oil, it's still got trans fat, and you can bet it's .49g per serving.
ReplyDeleteThat's better than the 4.9g per serving it was before, and brings it down to a level that your system can handle if you're not being completely careless with your diet.
ReplyDeleteIts nothing special, when I tried it. I would not recommend this unless someone was craving a barbecue sandwich and did not want to pay a lot of money for it.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember that Chappelle's Show bit. The only rib bit I can think of is "Ribs - The nighttime sleepaid". Please refresh my memory.
ReplyDeleteIt's part of an early Season 2 sketch where Dave's "Calvin" gets a job at WacArnold's; it skews the McDonald company line of how it helps its lower-class employers, because his peers don't respect him, he gets mugged because of his paycheck, and his wife is sleeping around because he's not home. It's great, just look up "WacArnold's" on Google/YouTube, should be pretty easy.
ReplyDelete"Hey Calvin! It's a thin line between fries and shakes!"
I remember it now. It compares itself to the McD's ad where Calvin gets a job and McD's and is so responsible in the eyes of his neighbors.
ReplyDeleteIn the CS spoof everybody just clowns him the whole time.
As I am typing this I am listening to a McDonald's McRib commercial on the radio--Poetic... Regardless I broke down and tried a couple of these even though a lot of the reviews have been less than stellar. I mean it was only a couple of bucks.
ReplyDeleteI must say I really liked these sandwiches. The charring on the patty was great and the there was plenty of sauce. I didn't find the pickles too strong but the big onion slices were kind of overpowering. When I order them again I will get light onion on them.
Maybe they were good b/c I went right in the middle of the lunch rush... I don't know but I do know I'm craving another one.
Oh, and btw, I absolutely hate the McD's McRib. It's terrible. Just saying...
