Review: Post - Xtremely Chocolatey Cocoa Pebbles

Post's Xtremely Chocolatey Cocoa Pebbles is a souped-up, limited-time version of the chocolate-flavored crisped rice cereal that purports to turn your milk "Xtremely Chocolatey!"

It's around $2.99 for a 15-ounce box but I received this courtesy of Post.

I'm always leery of purposeful/stylized misspellings on children's products since they had a hard enough time learning to spell as it is, but I suppose the box is more trying to draw in the parents who buy the cereal.

The cereal is a couple shades darker than regular Cocoa Pebbles and has a noticeably more chocolaty flavor i.e. more cocoa in it, which is something I don't think you can go wrong with. Beyond that it's the same crispy crunch as regular Pebbles cereal, which is similar to Rice Krispies but flatter.

The crispiness holds up just okay in milk. With the small size and generally holey structure, it goes soggy fairly quickly.

The box declares that your milk will become "like an xtreme milkshake," but it's more like eating cereal with chocolate milk. Not like slightly chocolaty milk but like actual chocolate milk. And it happens almost immediately.

Overall, Post's Xtremely Chocolatey Cocoa Pebbles was pretty good. I like Cocoa Pebbles in general for the chocolaty flavor and crispy crunch so kicking it up a notch in the cocoa department and leaving some chocolate milk to drink after your meal is just a bonus. It's also especially nice for people who like cereal with milk, but don't actually like drinking the milk at the end (I'm not naming any names but my cousin does this... she also only drinks half a can of Coke and throws the rest away... even the smaller 8-ounce ones... waste!)
