Frozen Friday: DiGiorno - Pizzeria Supreme Speciale Pizza

DiGiorno's Pizzeria Supreme Speciale Pizza comes topped with Italian sausage, pepperoni, red and green peppers, and caramelized onions.

A 21.3-ounce pizza was $4.99 on sale.

I had only been able to locate the pepperoni version of DiGiorno's Pizzeria line when they were first introduced, but I'd been seeing them in various flavors lately, so I picked this one up. The pepperoni version was pretty good so I had high hopes for this one.

Fortunately, I wasn't disappointed. The crust was nice and crispy but didn't dry out inside. The crumb was soft and airy.

The toppings were top notch for frozen food. The pepperoni in particular is comparable to what you'd find at a big pizza chain. It had a nice flavor and crisped up really well during baking, rather than pooling oil and staying soft. The sausage had a enjoyable herby flavor.

The peppers and caramelized onions added some sweetness to each bite.

The cheese was real mozzarella and actually stretched when it was hot out of the oven. The tomato sauce was pretty robust and flavorful.

Overall, DiGiorno's Pizzeria Supreme Speciale Pizza was excellent as far as frozen pizzas go. The crust, toppings, and sauce were all really good. It's just a little weird to me how much better it is than some of DiGiorno's other lines of pizza.
