Frozen Friday: Haagen-Dazs - Green Tea Ice Cream

Haagen-Dazs' Green Tea Ice Cream features the flavor of matcha green tea in ice cream. Notably, it's only made with five ingredients: cream, skim milk, sugar, egg yolks, and green tea.

I bought a 14-oz container for $2.99.

Upfront, there's a refreshing, almost grassy green tea flavor but devoid of some of the harsher bitter notes of matcha. At the tail end, it mellowed into a creamy sweet richness.

Matcha-lovers might prefer something with a little more oomph, but Haagen-Dazs goes with a more relaxing experience here.

Texture-wise, the ice cream was smooth and dense like super premium ice cream should be.
Overall, I enjoyed Haagen-Dazs' Green Tea Ice Cream a good bit. It lacks the punch of more decadent flavors but instead, offers something more slow and almost lazy (but in a good way!).

I would call ahead (or try their online product locator) if you're keen to try it though as it's one of the harder-to-find flavors.
