News: Wendy's Testing BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich

Wendy's is testing a BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich in several states across the U.S.

Spotted on The Impulsive Buy, the pulled pork is served on a brioche bun and is topped simply with a broccoli slaw made with broccoli, red cabbage, and carrots. There are three varieties of barbecue sauce to choose from: Spicy, Smoky, and Sweet with additional sauce available upon request (in case, you want a mix of all three or the like).

In addition to the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, a BBQ Pulled Pork Cheeseburger (the same as above plus a beef patty and cheese) and Pulled Pork Cheese Fries are also being tested.

Pricing is in line with similar to past offerings from competing chains at around the $4.50 mark.

While it's not a comprehensive list, the sandwich has been spotted in a least one location in the following states: Colorado, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, and Ohio. With such widespread testing, it seems more likely that the sandwich will make it on to the national menu in the near future (probably a summer offer to play on the barbecue theme or maybe a fall entry to coincide with and challenge  the McRib).

Similar sandwiches previously offered at competitors include the Memphis BBQ Pulled Pork from Burger King and the Memphis BBQ Burger from Carl's Jr. Subway also occasionally offers pulled pork.

I reached out to the company for comment on the test but was told they don't provide info on test items.
