Frozen Friday: Marie Callender's - Red Velvet Cake

Marie Callender's Red Velvet Cakes are mini red velvet cakes with cream cheese frosting that are easy to thaw out of the freezer.

There are two individually-packaged cakes to a box and I bought a 5.8-oz box on sale for $2.

For whatever reason, the front of the box reads "ready in 10 seconds" but the instruction reads heat for 12 seconds to thaw. Not a huge difference but why not just be consistent?

The thaw time is just enough to soften the cake all the way through without actually heating it much at all. That's probably by design as the cream cheese frosting would definitely melt otherwise. It might be a little small for some (about the same size as a small cupcake), but it's probably how much an single portion should be.

The cake had an enjoyable chocolaty flavor (something that a lot of red velvet cakes miss on) but was a little on the dry side.

The frosting is actual cream cheese and not a blend. It had a pretty nice creamy flavor that suited the chocolaty cake very well.

Overall, Marie Callender's' Red Velvet Cake makes for some convenient (and quick) dessert eating without any prep or rush. While it was a little dry, the flavors and textures were good.
