News: Pizza Hut Builds Life-Size Pizza Thrower

As part of a summer tie-in with the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie coming August 8th, Pizza Hut has built a life-sized, fully-operational version of the Pizza Thrower (some of you might remember the toy from back in the '80s). Move over drone delivery?

The Pizza Thrower can be seen at Comic-Con in San Diego (July 24 to 27), where attendees can line up to man the turret and fire off faux Pizza Hut Cheesy Bites pizzas at targets and enemies of the Ninja Turtles (they'll also be able to eat some real Cheesy Bites Pizza, while they wait).

The Pizza Thrower measures at 12 feet tall, 9 feet wide, and 16 feet long. It can go up to 75 miles per hour and can also fire off pizzas while moving via a 180-degree rotating tower (it can only move 5 to 10 mph while shooting though; no high-speed pizza throwing for you!).

Here are the provided specs in case you're wondering:

- Dimensions: 12 feet tall; 9 feet wide; 16 feet long
- Weight: Nearly 2 tons
- Chassis: A pick-up truck platform from two decades ago
- Structure Materials: Mix of molded box steel tube and fiberglass reinforced plywood
- Suspension: Modified airbags for 8 inches of vertical travel
- Vehicle Speed: 5-10 mph while shooting; capable of 75 mph
- Thrower Speed: 20 feet per second
- Thrower Distance: 30 feet
- Paint/Finish: Two-tone military green with a pizza-resistant finish
- Cost: Priceless – it's a life-size Pizza Thrower after all!
