Review: Krispy Kreme - Carrot Cake Donut

Krispy Kreme's Carrot Cake Donut is a cake donut with carrots and spice, topped with cream cheese icing and finished with strips of orange icing.

It's $1.19 for one or $9.49 for an assorted dozen in my area.

The donut was moist enough with a cinnamon flavor to it, but lacked in the carrot department. I could see tiny bits of carrots in the crumb, but they were few and far in between.

The cream cheese icing was relatively thick and, combined with the glaze on the donut, got pretty sweet, pretty fast. Beyond that, there was somewhat of a cream cheese flavor and tang to it. It's not like the cream cheese frosting you might use at home though, and felt more like sugary icing with cream cheese mixed in.

Overall, although Krispy Kreme's Carrot Cake Donut tasted fine, if a bit too sweet, it doesn't quite hit the right marks insofar as carrot cake goes primarily due to a lack of carrot.
