Review: Skippy - Creamy Natural Peanut Butter Spread with Dark Chocolate

Skippy's Creamy Natural Peanut Butter Spread with Dark Chocolate is basically creamy peanut butter mixed with dark chocolate and cocoa.

It was $3 on sale for a 15-oz jar.

While the color is a deep chocolate brown, this mostly tastes and feels like smooth, creamy peanut butter. It's lightly sweetened with a nice roasted flavor to it.

The dark chocolate and cocoa add just a touch of chocolate that's still very enjoyable. Compared to Nutella or Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter Spread, it's not nearly as candy-like (there's 8 grams of sugar per serving here compared to 20 grams or so for the other two) but also not quite as chocolaty (despite actually containing chocolate).

Overall, Skippy's Creamy Natural Peanut Butter Spread is pretty good. Unlike more dessert-like spreads, I can sit here and eat it off the spoon without feeling like I'm overindulging in candy/sugar. Put it this way: I would substitute this in lieu of peanut butter in a sandwich or on fruit, whereas I'd be more inclined to use Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter Spread on a cake.
