Frozen Friday: Haagen-Dazs - Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream

Haagen-Dazs' Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream features chocolate ice cream with a peanut butter swirl.

I bought a 14-oz carton for $2.99 on sale.

The thing that stands out the most about Haagen-Dazs' Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream is that the peanut butter swirl is literally just peanut butter. It's not peanut butter ice cream. Not a peanut buttery swirl. Nor peanut butter sauce. It's just straight peanut butter.

If you've ever tried to freeze peanut butter, you'd know that it is quite hard when frozen. This means if you scoop this right out of the freezer without letting it soften a bit, the peanut butter is spoon-bending-ly hard. I recommend letting it sit for a minute or two for the best experience.

That being said, the peanut butter has a deep roasted flavor that puts a lot of peanut butters to shame. It is some really good peanut butter. If they were to put it in jars, I would line up to buy it.

The chocolate is smooth, rich and creamy. It has the typical dense quality of super premium ice cream and pairs very well with the peanut butter.

Overall, Haagen-Dazs' Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream is an utter delight for lovers of chocolate and peanut butter as it is high quality on both fronts. Just be warned of the solid peanut butter swirl if you have a weak spoon (or weak wrist).
