Review: Sonic - Holiday Mint Shake

Sonic's Holiday Mint Shake features vanilla ice cream shake blended with crushed holiday mints and finished with whipped topping, more crushed mints, and a maraschino cherry. It's also available with chocolate ice cream.

A Mini-sized cup goes for $2.29 but I received this one courtesy of Sonic.

Unlike the typical fast food shake, the Holiday Mint Shake doesn't get its flavor from a sauce or syrup. All the mint flavor comes from crushed pieces of candy-cane-like mint candy.

There's a satisfying amount of mint flavor to it, which also means there are plenty of crispy bits of candy as you drink it up through the straw. The vanilla flavor doesn't come into play and merely provides an accent on the creamy texture of the shake.

Like most Sonic shakes, the Holiday Mint Shake is also very thick. It takes a fair bit of effort to suck it up the straw; you might can to go with a spoon to eat these unless you want to wait till it melts a little.

Overall, Sonic's Holiday Mint Shake fits the holiday theme to a tee and with a nice cool mint flavor to go along with a thick and creamy shake with plenty of crispy texture.
