Interestingly, the promotional images show it paired with a Hazelnut Coffee. Not exactly something thought of as a complement to cheese, but then again, neither is a donut.
The items are part of a KFC Indonesia's KFC Coffee concept, which operates at select locations and is similar to McDonald's McCafe platform abroad, where it's more like a cafe setting than a fast food restaurant.
While the idea is novel, it's not even the first cheese-topped donut offered in Indonesia. Dunkin' Donuts serves several different cheese-topped donuts in the country, and even a cheese-topped mochi donut (made with glutinous rice flour for a soft and chewy texture). But it's the "Cheese Topping Donut" that sports the most outlandish appearance:
Sounds good to me. Reminds me of Filipino ensaymada and I love that!
ReplyDeleteI was going to mention ensaymada. That's exactly what this looks like, especially the bottom "outlandish" picture. Malaysian culture isn't too far from Filipino culture, so I guess they're familiar with that kind of flavor.
