Review: Matcha Green Tea Kit Kats

Matcha Green Tea Kit Kat bars are matcha green tea-flavored, white chocolate Kit Kats from Japan.

A 4.91-ounce package of 12 mini-bars was $5.49 at a local Japanese supermarket (if none of your local places offer them and you're looking for them, they're sold on Amazon but are quite a bit pricier at a $9.49).

The few times I've tried matcha, I found it to be very strong with a distinct flavor and a bitter aftertaste. I think it would make for some weird candy, but the flavor here is more like your common variety green tea, which is to say it was mellow and refreshing.

The green tea flavor is accompanied with a creamy white chocolate and the two make for a pretty pleasant combo. The coating tends to melt rather easily and it can get messy as a result.

Beyond the flavored white chocolate is the same crispy wafer that fans of Kit Kat bars know and love.

Overall, if you like green tea ice cream, Matcha Green Tea Kit Kat bars are a lot like that, but not nearly as cold and come with a familiar crispy crunch.
