Review: Quiznos - Chicken Pesto Toasty Pasta

Quiznos' Chicken Pesto Toasty Pasta features cavatappi pasta, sliced chicken, diced balsamic tomatoes, and Italian three-cheese blend with a basil pesto sauce.

I tried a bowl for $6.99.

They made my bowl by running everything but the tomatoes (which were added after) through their conveyor oven on a tray and transferring it to a bowl after (I should note that mine came in a salad bowl as they ran out of the pasta bowls; the serving is the same size though).

There was a good amount of pasta to be had and it was warmed all the way through. The cavatappi was close to al dente with a nicely firm but not dry texture.

The basil pesto sauce was pretty light but had a nice flavor that complements the other ingredients well without under- or over-whelming them.

I really like Quiznos' sliced chicken. It has a nice, soft juicy texture and a good amount of flavor.

The diced balsamic tomatoes add a fresh tang that added contrasted to the more savory notes of the rest of the dish.

The cheeses comes in smooth shavings rather than the typical powdered or shredded stuff. It's nice visually and tastewise.

Overall, Quiznos' Chicken Pesto Toasty Pasta was really enjoyable. While the toasting doesn't add anything over say cooking in a pan, it doesn't take anything away either. Pasta is more of a fast casual dish you might find at chains like Panera or Corner Bakery, but Quiznos does it well here. It might take some convincing for people to drop 7 bucks for pasta at Quiznos though.
