Jack in the Box Tests English Breakfast Sandwiches

Jack in the Box is testing English Muffin Breakfast Sandwiches out in Dallas, TX. Adding English muffins would be a first for the chain, which currently offers burger buns, toasted sourdough, biscuits, and croissant for their breakfast sandwiches.

The English muffins are being tested with a slightly more premium set of ingredients than your standard eggs, bacon (or sausage), and American cheese combo. There's the Black Forest Ham & Cheddar English Muffin and the Smoked Gouda & Bacon English Muffin.

True to the name, the Black Forest & Cheddar English Muffin includes cheddar cheese, Black Forest Ham and a fried egg on a toasted English muffin.

The Smoked Gouda & Bacon English Muffin features bacon mayo, bacon, smoked Gouda cheese, and a fried egg on a toasted English muffin

Both sandwiches can be found at participating Dallas-area restaurants for $3.39 (may vary) alone or $4.89 in a combo that includes a regular hot coffee and hash brown.

It's a solid play for the burger chain. English muffins are generally regarded as healthier than biscuits or croissants and I would certainly prefer them over burger buns for breakfast.
