Preview: Kit Kat Duos Mint and Dark Chocolate Candy Bar

Kit Kat Duos Mint and Dark Chocolate candy bar features a mint creme top half joined by a dark chocolate bottom half surrounding a stack of wafers.

These aren't arriving until December 2019 but I received a sample courtesy of Kit Kat. They should cost around $1.

The Kit Kat Duos Mint and Dark Chocolate is very similar to the Kit Kat Mint Miniatures they've offered on a seasonal basis in the past.

The dark chocolate here was rich, smooth, and bittersweet (more so than other mainstream chocolate at this price point). It's definitely more indulgent than the chocolate on a regular Kit Kat (perhaps due, in part, to them only having to spring for half as much?). Oddly, it seems to have a lower melting point as well (dark chocolate tends tends to have a higher melting point versus milk chocolate). You might want to be careful where you put your hands after eating it.

The mint creme portion was creamy, sweet (more so than the chocolate), and very minty. I nibbled on a portion of it by itself and it was veering close to toothpaste territory but taken together with the dark chocolate, it balanced out really well.

The wafers were the same as you get with any Kit Kat. They had a light crispy crunch that contrasts nicely with the smooth and melty candy portions.

Overall, Kit Kat Duos Mint and Dark Chocolate turned out excellently. The dark chocolate and mint creme make for a classic but very enjoyable combo. I'll have to be sure to grab some come December.
