Review: Popeyes - Doublestuf Oreo Bites

Popeyes' Doublestuf Oreo Bites feature Doublestuf Oreo cookies covered in batter and deep-fried.

I picked up two for $1.99.

Unlike previous versions of deep-fried Oreos I've had, Popeyes' take on the dessert had a thin, crispy shell that looked to have some corn meal in it rather than a thicker, funnel cake-like texture.

Inside the wafer portion of the Oreo assumed a cake-like texture from being deep-fried, while the creme filling did a remarkably good impression of cake frosting.

Taken altogether, Popeyes' Doublestuf Oreo Bites offers the taste of an Oreo with the textures of warm cake and wraps it up in a crispy crust. While it's a bit pricey at $1 per Oreo (although you can get four for $2.99), it's really tasty.
