Review: Wendy's Grilled Avocado BLT Chicken Sandwich

Wendy's Grilled Avocado BLT Chicken Sandwich features an herb-marinated grilled chicken breast, three strips of applewood-smoked bacon, iceberg lettuce, tomato, Muenster cheese, buttermilk ranch and creamy avocado on a premium bun.

I bought one for $6.29. It is one of three Made to Crave Chicken Sandwiches recently launched by the chain.

For the most part, the Grilled Avocado BLT Chicken Sandwich was pretty standard and not all that different from Wendy's Grilled Asiago Ranch Chicken Club.

The chicken was fairly moist with a lightly seasoned flavor, while the bacon added a smoky crispiness.

There were like two leaves of lettuce and one slice of tomato, which is a little sparse for a BLT.

The cheese added the typical generic creaminess and was buoyed by the buttery richness of the avocado.

More than the avocado or BLT portion of the sandwich, the buttermilk ranch stood out among the ingredients. It was creamy, slightly herb-y, and overly tangy. The tanginess in particular pushed out some of the more subtler flavors of the other ingredients.

The light and soft bun held together well and didn't fall apart or get too soggy.

Taken altogether, Wendy's Grilled Avocado BLT Chicken Sandwich felt more like a "bacon ranch chicken sandwich" as there's not enough L or T to qualify and the avocado seemed like it was just thrown in for kicks. More bacon, lettuce, and tomato would have been nice here.
